Saveur: Bread Folks

I photograph food and the people behind making the food, but when the maker is an iconic photographer, I did a double take. Saveur asked me to photograph Norman Jean Roy at his bakery Bread Folks in Hudson, New York. There is something graphic and sharp about Norman’s energy, as he was moving from the fast paced lifestyle of a portrait and fashion photographer into his new role as a bread maker. I wanted to show him in a softer way, while still capturing the energy he brings to the bread he creates.
